A display piece of heliolites of the Silurian period, Wenlock series and found in Dudley, West Midlands, UK. This specimen weighs approximately 1.8 kg and measures approximately 19 by 15 cm. A colonial coral which lived in warm shallow waters and is common in the limestone rocks of the Silurian period. Heliolites is often associated with other corals that formed small reefs.
