Echinoid Spines Sp.

Specimens of echinoid spines from Morocco. Echinoids are marine animals belonging to the class echinoidea, they have inhabited the seas since the Ordovician period, 450 million years ago and are still present in the oceans today. These particular specimens are echinoid spines which were primarily a defence mechanism against predators. They have two series of spines primary and secondary, these samples are of primary (long) spines. These specimens are ideal for educational use or for children but would also be a great addition to smaller fossil collections. They are supplied in lots of 100 grams and come in a polythene bag with an information label.
